What you will gain

The programme is designed for anyone who wants to better understand how to translate research results into real-world applications—whether through collaboration with industry, licensing, or the creation of a spin-off company.

Throughout the programme, you will work on your own project and gradually explore:

  • what problem your research is solving and for whom it creates real value,
  • what commercialisation pathways exist,
  • how to validate the application potential of your project,
  • how to decide on its future direction.

The programme combines workshops, mentoring, and experience sharing with experts from academia, technology transfer, and industry.

What to expect

Participants will attend 10 training sessions taking place from September 30 to December 9, 2026, every Wednesday from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at CEITEC MU.

The programme is practice-oriented and focuses on the full science-to-business process, including:

  • identifying the commercial potential of research,
  • intellectual property protection,
  • collaboration with industry,
  • commercialisation opportunities,
  • the creation of spin-off companies.

Who is it for

The Life Science Transfer Academy is open to a wide range of researchers:

  • undergraduate and PhD students,
  • postdoctoral researchers,
  • early-career scientists interested in the real-world impact of their research.

You do not need a finished product or a business plan—what matters is having a project with potential beyond academia and the willingness to explore its future possibilities.

What you will receive

Upon successful completion of the programme, you may receive:

  • 4 ECTS credits (for students),
  • a microcertificate confirming the acquired competencies.

You will also gain practical skills, an overview of possible application pathways for your research, and valuable contacts from both academic and industry environments.

How to apply

Applications are submitted via the registration form on the JIC website. As the number of places is limited, early application is highly recommended.

👉 Application deadline: June 30, 2026
