Masaryk University has newly registered the letter M - written with a special font - as a trademark. The Czech Industrial Property Office complied with the school's request and registered the figurative mark in its register.
"The figurative mark M has supplemented the trademark MUNI, which the university has registered since 2016. A special font called MUNI, which is one of the key elements of the new visual style of the university, is then protected by copyright law," explained CTT intellectual property manager Markéta Vlasáková .
The letter M has been registered in shades of gray, protecting all possible color variations of the mark, including the now widely used blue and white versions. The Technology Transfer Office of Masaryk University is responsible for the registration of trademarks as well as for other forms of intellectual property protection.
