3rd BioSpot conference was held at the DOX gallery in Prague on March 1st. This year Masaryk University was represented by technology of Dr. Karel Lacina from CEITEC. Potential investors could get to learn more about his enhancement of the output voltage of galvanic cell above thermodynamic value.
This concept is generally applicable for all types of chemical energy sources (employing an electrolyte) – galvanic cells (batteries) and for fuel, enzyme and microbial based biofuel cells. It provides the possibility to be used as an energy source for the simple, one-purpose and specialized applications where it will be integrated into the body of the electronics. Moreover, it seems optimal also as a solution for implantable analytical devices powered by biofuel cells using substances available in the living system, e. g. glucose, electrolytes.
The event was also attended by TTO MU Business Manager Jana Daňková and CEITEC Technology Transfer Manager Pavel Kerchev. The aim of the conference is to connect researchers with the application sphere, and therefore investors who have a chance to evaluate interesting scientific ideas play an irreplaceable role.
