The 21st spin-off is a company from the Faculty of Arts

EVE Technologies develops innovative e-learning applications and primarily focuses on the development of language learning tools. The company works with knowledge from the fields of linguistics, artificial intelligence and neuro-linguistic programming in its applications. The most significant result is the development of CzechME, an application for teaching non-native speakers of Czech, developed in cooperation with Masaryk University. The company has spin-off status since the end of 2022, and was officially welcomed into the Masaryk University spin-off family at the Business Research Forum in April 2023, where one of the company's founders, Richard Holaj, received a certificate from representatives of the MU Technology Transfer Office.

"The path to spin-off status for me started around the beginning of the CzechME project. Dr. Dana Hlaváčková and I came up with the idea of a mobile application for teaching foreigners. We had an idea that we could implement it as a collaboration between the Institute of the Czech Language of the Faculty of Arts of MU and the company EVE Technologies, which I founded with a colleague a few years ago. We managed to get the project and after several years of cooperation, the achievement of the spin-off status and the follow-up MUNI Innovation Award is a great confirmation that our cooperation has great potential," says Richard Holaj from the Institute of the Czech Language, Faculty of Arts MU.

The CzechME app was one of the 11 innovative projects awarded the MUNI Innovation Award, as it is currently the largest and most comprehensive app for teaching Czech to non-native speakers. The app also focuses extensively on grammar and pronunciation, making it unique on the market. "I believe that in the future we will further develop the CzechME app within the spin-off company EVE Technologies, but we will also come up with new successful joint projects," adds Richard Holaj.
