We started the year 2024 successfully with a special TT DAY in SIMU

Almost a hundred employees of Masaryk University and the partners of the Technology Transfer Office were welcomed on Tuesday 23 January at the special TTO open day, this time in the unique premises of the Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine.

At the beginning of the event, visitors could listen to presentations of interesting facts from the field of technology transfer. The Technology Transfer Office director, Eva Janouškovcová, gave an overview of the current developments in the field of transfer at the national level and commented on the upcoming transfer reform, which is being presented today at the National Library of Technology in Prague. Radoslav Trautmann, the head of the Transfer Department of the Technology Transfer Office, presented one of the transfer cases in depth and the background of the establishment of the real MU spin-off company CasInvent Pharma. Jitka Štenclová, the head of the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Department of the Technology Transfer Office, summarized the whole year 2023 in terms of the activities, events and achievements of the Technology Transfer Office, and Karolína Kašparová from the Department for Science and Quality spoke on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine of the Masaryk University, where the event was held, presenting the department's activities and success with the first spin-off company of the Masaryk University, MilkyWay be well s.r.o.

After the presentations, there was a festive innovation toast by the current director of the Technology Transfer Office Eva Janouškovcová and the dean of the Faculty of Medicine Martin Repko, who pointed out the importance of technology transfer for Masaryk University and the Faculty of Medicine and outlined the uniqueness of the Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine.

The next part of the programme was a guided tour of the most modern simulation centre in Central Europe. Visitors were able to look into the premises, which are equipped similarly to a real hospital so that all medical procedures could be tested without endangering the patient's life. “As an employee of the Rector's Office of the Masaryk University, I was looking forward to seeing a workplace that the average person cannot get to. Thanks to a great guide, I had the feeling that we have something really unique at the Masaryk University,” says Renata Danielová from the Office of Development. The participants of the tours had the opportunity to see the operating theatre, the emergency room and the Intensive Care Unit. “At the Simulation Centre I was most interested in the demonstration of intubation and the so-called velines from which the reactions of the mannequins are set. I evaluate the whole open day of the Technology Transfer Office positively and it is great to hear how not only the university's scientific results are moving into practice, but also the preparation of the students themselves for meeting real patients,” Barbora Šiklová from the Research Centre of the Faculty of Business and Economics of Mendel University evaluates the event.

“At the Technology Transfer Office, we were looking forward to presenting to visitors not only the unique spaces of the Masaryk University, but also what we have achieved in the last year and where we have moved in our activities,” said the director of the Technology Transfer Office Eva Janouškovcová. As part of the networking, guests could taste Moravian wines, sample specialties from the buffet or look at the posters that mapped out an overview of the spin-off companies of the Masaryk University and technologies for which TTO is looking for the commercial partners. The event also featured the CaviPlasma low-temperature plasma liquid purification device.
